What is CPM ?


Clinical application of CPM:
Continuous passive movement (CPM) is a new biological concept, which is to accelerate the healing and regeneration of articular cartilage and surrounding ligaments and tendons under the action of continuous passive movement. By simulating the natural movement of human body, it stimulates human’s natural resilience and plays a compensatory role in tissues. The knee joint and hip joint can move freely after recovery.
CPM provides gentle and continuous traction of the tissues around the joint to prevent fibrous contracture and release adhesion, thus maintaining range of motion. The relative movement of the articular surface and the periodic change of intraarticular pressure can be caused to accelerate the flow and renewal of the articular fluid. At the same time, the gentle alternating pressure and decompression of the articular cartilage can promote the exchange of the fluid in the matrix of the cartilage and the articular fluid, so as to maintain the nutrition of the cartilage and prevent its degenerative changes.

Compared with active exercise, CPM does not cause muscle fatigue, can be continued for a long time, while the joint stress is less, can be used early in the case of joint injury or inflammation, and does not cause damage. Clinical efficacy of CPM:
